12MW solar PV / 6MW Battery Storage Project
Advised juwi Renewable Energy on the development of a landmark off-grid hybrid energy project at the DeGrussa copper-gold mine, located 900km north-east of Perth. The project includes a 12MW solar PV array and 6MW battery storage system, supported by a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Sandfire Resources. Gerald provided legal guidance across the development, EPC, O&M, and project sale phases.
The project secured $20.9 million in funding from ARENA and $15 million in finance from the CEFC, and is expected to abate approximately 12,000 tonnes of CO₂e annually. It reached full generation capacity in June 2016 and is regarded as one of Australia’s pioneering large-scale renewable energy solutions for remote mining operations.
