Three clients amongst RCEF grant recipients
The NSW State Government announced the projects that are receiving grants from the Regional Community Energy Fund. Of the successful projects, there are 3 solar and battery projects that are supported by Pegasus Legal.
The Regional Community Energy Fund provides grants to community energy projects that create innovative and/or dispatchable renewable energy and benefit the local community.
The Regional Community Energy Fund is an initiative under the NSW Climate Change Fund.
Pegasus Legal is pleased to be working with:
- Community Energy for Goulburn on a 1.2MW(AC) solar and 400kW/800kWh battery facility to be financed through community fund-raising.
- Pingala and the Community Power Agency, to establish a mid-scale 1 MW solar facility in Grong Grong, in the Riverina region of NSW. This facility will be structured as a “solar garden” enabling any person interested to substitute their own roof-top solar investment with a participation in a mid-scale solar farm. This participation will be delivered through on-bill credits — very much like having rooftop solar.
- Byron Bay Solar Farm Holdings and Coolamon Energy on the development of a 7.4MW(DC)/4.99MW(AC) solar farm with a 5MW/10MWh lithium ion battery storage facility in Byron Shire.
NSW Minister for Energy and Environment Matt Kean said the grants would help communities take control of their energy bills and benefit from the economic opportunities presented by changes in the energy system.
“These innovative renewable energy projects will help to make electricity more reliable and affordable for our regional communities,” Mr Kean said.
Pegasus Legal director, Swati Johri, is excited by the diversity of projects that NSW government has elected to support.
“Regional communities have an abundance of solar resource, the full potential of which is yet to be realised. This program will help to grow the small and mid-scale renewable energy sector and enable the development of solar and storage projects that best meet the needs of the local community.”, Ms Johri said.
